  1. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

I got gpedit to go. a couple of things were already deselected. I did the rest and rebooted, but still nothing. I'm giving up Nice of MS to clobber the home user in pursuit of the bad hats. My PCs sit behind a router with Firewall, have the W11 Firewall enabled, along with a RT AV. I don't use...
  2. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

Re ran it. Worked gpedit is now active. I just have to remember what to do with it now :-) <Looks further back in thread>
  3. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

I did. I let it finish, then ran gpedit.msc and got a Windows message saying "can't find gpedit.msc". I'm sorry for plaguing the forum with all this, but It's always just worked the way I set it up, and a lot of this is a bit beyond me

  5. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

It came up with : " Elevated permissions are required to run DISM. Use an elevated command prompt to complete these tasks. Error: 740" I know enough to have installed the 2 NAS and drive, and setup network drives, but I've never really used bat files since DOS
  6. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

@Bree I'd went to do that very thing last night. However, it was already set that way. @Wolfzz Just run it like an old DOS *.bat file ?
  7. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

Unfortunately not applicable in my case, as it's W11 Home. No group policy editor
  8. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

Hi Thanks for your help. I knew about the extra security, as I had to enable SMB 1.0/CIF on my two W10 boxes a while ago. So far, nothing has worked (the registry hack was already set, and I don't have gped as I'm on W11 Home) AFAIK both the wee Netgear NAS and the WD World drive are SMB 1...
  9. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

@Bree second link produces Oops! We ran into some problems. Has it been deleted, or moved ? Thanks It's Ok, I found it. However, my regedit key is already set, and I have no gped as I'm on W11 Home. I'll keep trying
  10. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

Thanks both. Wireshark does indeed sound very technical, so I'll keep that as an option for now @neemobeer, thanks. Thank you Bree. I was on the old Ten forum, and thought I was on this one, but in the end it was simpler to re-register. I'll give the links a good read and report back tomorrow...
  11. Despite enabling SMB 1.0 CFS W11 won't see my network drive

As above really. I have an old network drive which shows up on on my other systems (both Win10 with SMB 1.0 enabled), but not my Win11 system. I can see disk the icon in "Network" part of File Explorer, but I can't connect to a share via "Connect Network Drive", as it doesn't show up in the drop...
