  1. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

it is yes. And I did. And every box is ticked, as the shot below... and yet this information is not displayed:
  2. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

Yay! Thank you!! :-) Now I can clear up a bit of confusion I seem to have created by adding this issue into my own thread that I started on a slightly different topic! For reasons I don't know, between my original post and now a "add to play queue" context menu for Media Player made itself...
  3. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

I appreciate you trying to help but it seems we're at slightly cross-purposes here? You should note that I stated clearly above that the shared files all appear correctly in my control point app. By "correctly" I mean that they contain all the necessary/expected information. This information...
  4. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

Can confirm that it doesn't. Only using "#" does the trick. No idea why, but I suspect this may be related in some manner to the way the sharing exists? Did some expected checks... can ping the server both by IP and name. I have no idea at all why File Explorer behaves this way.
  5. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

I realise this, but - in case I didn't explain fully above - while all this information displays correctly via my control point app (in my case BubbleUPnP), open the exact same shared folder inside File Explorer in Win11 simply does not display this information. There are no track numbers...
  6. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

so, not sure if this belongs here or in a new thread (mods please feel free). Still digging around a bit with my music server/file share. Leaving aside my initial remarks about the Media Player and queueing files etc. I've noticed something else but am again a bit stuck. I've configured the...
  7. files appear inverted

I have a music server running on a separate machine on my home network. My Windows 11 Pro can access this network share via file explorer. The creator of the server software kindly included a bunch of .png files to use as category images. On the server's host machine these .png files appear as...
  8. Connecting to a UPnP server: Windows as a client not a server.

Thank you for that. To explain: there are two sides to this kind of media streaming - the server, and the client. My server is already up and running on a Linux box. So unfortunately, none of the software out there that appears under searches seems suitable, because I do not want my Windows...
  9. Connecting to a UPnP server: Windows as a client not a server.

There are masses and masses of posts, forums, search results addressing various configurations of Windows OS as a media server and related software, players etc. but almost nothing relevant I can find as regards to how Windows 11 can be optimised as what is essentially an "audio renderer" to...
  10. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

Just following up a bit... did a bit more digging around, and found the github for the "Custom Context Menu" (available in the Microsoft Store). I installed it and followed instructions, and indeed it is possible to get as far as adding a custom right click menu, and launching Media Player (note...
  11. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

Because I've been collecting music for a long time? I began by ripping my CDs - some of them as replacements for a large vinyl collection (since sold). And since then I've been buying music from sites like Amazon and Bandcamp. I also like to visit the secondhand CD stores, and rip those too...
  12. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

well, this will do for me! I spent some time reading about, looking at what I could, but I will accept that this is another of those things that Windows "obviously should" do but doesn't! Don't want to use the legacy version. It doesn't handle FLAC files very well (or at all) and since the...
  13. Possible to add one specific context menu entry? I don't want to revert to Win 10, or use tools.

Have been reading tons about the wider subject of the right click context menu in Windows 11. Please note that I don't wish to revert it, expand it or use tools if possible. I'd like to add just one specific action or option, I'll explain: Finally managed to sort out a network server for my...
