Rolled back to .8457, everything was fine. Redownloaded and installed .8524 and I don't have access to my Start menu anymore.

Just installed Version 25H2 (0S Build 26200.8037), and my icons are back. So there you go. Incidentally, Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons is still blank. Thanks for trying to help!

It indeed does. At one point in this past week I tried setting it to imageres.dll,32 as well but now it is back to shell32.dll,8 and my icon is still facacte.

Yes, sorry, forgot to include I had tried that. I did not try the ie4uinit.exe -show command, but I had tried the taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F del /A /F /Q "%iconcache%" start explorer.exe bits a few times. (I tried it all again - including the full BAT file - did nothing.)

Just rolled out of bed... Egad! Camera works - but I seem to be having some issues! 8138 installed overnight. Shut down an unsaved GIMP session. My HD icon is still facacte. Not sure if that's causality with .8079 or coincidence.

This updated on Saturday. I just noticed (I hadn't paid attention) that my HD icons are showing blank docs instead of correct icons. I've spent an hour rebuilding caches and futzing with registry, no avail. Anyone else having issues?

Well boy you parsed that cleanly. You're right, I've only been running Beta for eight or so years. My point being I've run Windows for 37 years without having them hijack my screen content for theirs. But good on ya.
