Looks like OP prematurely concluded it was strictly related to installation assistant. Which has since been debunked. And even if it was installation assistant, that would be a cause, not a solution. Since it does seem that both issues ( the undeletable 8.63gb of windows update cleanup files...

Yup same experience here. Although @thecaretaker mentioned earlier in this thread that they were able to roll it back. “I have uninstalled Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5043178)” I’d be curious what the methodology was

For what it’s worth, just ran those 2 suggestions, no apparent fix to the 2 issues at hand nor seemingly any other system changes that I can tell

Not my experience. Did an in place upgrade from 23h2 to 24h2 via media creation tool, had these 2 issues as soon as the CU installed. Created a new boot disk using Rufus with official 24h2 from MS iso, same issue after CU brought it to .1882. Created a custom iso from uup dump directly to .1882...
