  1. OneDrive Red X Icon on Files & Folders

    @glasskuter, Got it done. Thanks.
  2. OneDrive Red X Icon on Files & Folders

Since I apparently have all my files on the PC, even if some have the red X, what happens if I disconnect from OneDrive altogether? Will all the OneDrive icons go away? Thanks.
  3. OneDrive Red X Icon on Files & Folders

After several years of paying for Microsoft 365 Family, we no longer need it. A week or so ago, I let the subscription lapse. Of course, I'm now 110 GB over the free 5 GB OneDrive storage limit. No problem as I have the PC set to keep all files on PC (solid green circle with white check mark)...
  4. Maximized Windows Changing Themselves to Restore State

PC about a year or so old. Strange behavior started a few days ago. Normally, I keep my three browser windows Maximized (Chrome, Firefox, Opera). Most other apps (Acrobat Reader, Office) are left in the Restore position so that they take up about a quarter of the screen. My display is set to...
  5. Partial Win11 install, crashes, loops back to beginning of install

I previously assumed Windows Update would inform me of BIOS & driver updates. I've seen that in the past, but apparently not so now. I installed the HP Support Assistant. It had two driver updates which I installed and a BIOS update from two months ago that won't install. The BIOS update...
  6. Partial Win11 install, crashes, loops back to beginning of install

@XxXxX I did do that with both the WD & the Samsung and they did help get past that issue, but I'm still stuck at the "Where do you want to install Windows?"
  7. Partial Win11 install, crashes, loops back to beginning of install

I took out the new Samsung and put the WD back in. I installed the WD Dashboard and installed new drivers and scanned for errors. Then used Windows Media Creator to download current version. Install proceeded OK until the "Where do you want to install Windows?" Here, I regressed. Previously, at...
  8. Partial Win11 install, crashes, loops back to beginning of install

Bought a HP OEM Win11 Home desktop back in the Spring. I replaced the 1 GB Intel SSD with a 2 GB WD Black SSD. Had a problem recognizing SSD and installing Win11 but eventually solved by finding the SSD driver. A few months later, I encountered a fake ransomware call scheme which lights up the...
  9. Malware Takeover

I'm heading out of town, I'll get to the RAID drivers when I get back. Thanks.
  10. Malware Takeover

@Winuser , the backup drive was not connected when the incident occurred. I previously noted this was a ransomware scam, not an actual malware installation. See Post #15. They try to get you to call their phone number. I did not, I just shut the PC down and restarted a few times and got rid of...
  11. Malware Takeover

I bought the HP desktop about 6 months ago with a OEM Intel 1TB SSD. I thought I could add a second 1TB, but couldn't so I replaced 1TB with a 2TB WD SSD. Aside from Windows not having the driver, I had no problem installing Windows 11.
  12. Malware Takeover

I don't ever get offered that option during the re-install process. It heads me in that direction, then circles me back to the beginning of the process. See screenshots in Post #35. Can a third-party app delete the partitions?
  13. Malware Takeover

I have several other PCs and have already been creating the media from them.
  14. Malware Takeover

Would using Rufus possibly help? If so, do I need to burn ISO to a DVD or can I use USB drive? I do have an external USB connected DVD drive.
  15. Malware Takeover

Can I use a third-party partition app to wipe the drive?
