Good news! I was able to install Windows 10 without a hitch, and upgraded to 11 no problem. All good, thanks everyone for their help!

Just had a thought - perhaps a bad one, lol - as I've never tried something like this before: If I make a disk image of my current 11, can I simply put it on the new laptop?

Thanks everyone. Lots of good ideas here. My friend says Windows 10 was originally on it. I do have a MS account, so I'll try installing 10 and see what happens. Hopefully it can upgrade to 11 after that. The laptop can support it.

A friend wants to sell his Linux loaded laptop for almost nothing, which is hard to resist. Is there a way to legally get Windows for free (temporarily) so I can install it on that machine?

Yeah, the problem there is I can't drag it while I'm doing ctrl+Tab, which is the only time the phantom "tab" shows up.

Is there a Facebook app for laptops? I'm only aware of the website. There are 106 processes running at any given time. When this issue occurs, there is nothing that relates to Facebook or Firefox or any other browser. There are no Firefox processes running when I'm not running it. My apologies...

It's really not exclusively Firefox related, it happens even when there are no other windows open at all (no Explorer windows, browsers, apps, etc.). I just had FF up to show what it looks like when I ctrl+Tab. For example, here it is with nothing else open.
