I did a fresh win11 install last night from a new download of the media creator but nothing changed. Graphics are fine after boot but during boot they are messed up. Memtest ran successfully overnight with a PASS. I then realized I had a long 10ft hdmi cable and replaced it with a short...
cpu is at 42C and it happens on a cold boot. I built the machine recently and the paste is fresh and good. I still have to do the memtest but I would have expected to see problems in daily use but there are none. The machine runs great it just has those odd screens on bootup and updates...
I checked my bios and all characters are there and no corruption is present. I guess it's just a mystery. The "Preparing Windows" screen must be from the Win11 OS so it seems repair does not replace all of the files unless I'm missing something else. Everything is fine once booted up...
Thanks for the detailed reply. I am running an x670e plus wifi with 7950x cpu and have kept it up with the latest bios. I don't know what other options there are other than reinstalling. I'm guessing a fresh install would fix it but I think I'll just put up with it for now as it's too much...
I ran the repair install and it still did not replace the corrupted startup window. Clearly repair does not replace all of the system files. I have too much installed to do a reinstall so it looks like I'm stuck.
Would you happen to have a link for that tutorial? The video I followed was called "how to repair install Windows 11 using media creation tool, how to". I followed that video but it did not fix the problem which leads me to believe it did not replace all of these startup files.
