    "Dismiss notifications after this amount of time" was set to 15 seconds. I changed it to 5 seconds. And the volume bar now vanishes in less than 3! Thanks, das10!

    Clicking outside of it means clicking on the desktop, an application, or a full screen video. Clicking outside of it does not affect it.

    Note: When mousing-over a playing YouTube video, playback information is displayed over the video at the bottom of the screen. That information drops as soon as the mouse is off of the video.
