"Dismiss notifications after this amount of time" was set to 15 seconds. I changed it to 5 seconds. And the volume bar now vanishes in less than 3! Thanks, das10!

Clicking outside of it means clicking on the desktop, an application, or a full screen video. Clicking outside of it does not affect it.

It shows up on the bottom in the middle of the desktop, just above the taskbar.

Note: When mousing-over a playing YouTube video, playback information is displayed over the video at the bottom of the screen. That information drops as soon as the mouse is off of the video.

After restarting, the OneNote desktop folder disappeared. The number of programs in the System Tray looks normal. OneNote does not appear to be running. I'll update this thread if it comes back.
