All I know is this made it worse for me. I had to "hopefully temporarily" disable Modern Standby. On the flip side, THIS did give me all the power modes back. :)
Just goes to show, if you're working with alpha and beta class software, keep your backups up to date daily. My backup from the evening before is on an external NVME. I was able to restore from it to my windows nvme drive in under 15 minutes.
Spoke with Jen Gentleman from MS, they know about the SSE gsod and are still investigating the cause. I offered up my machine if they needed to test something on a "known GSOD candidate".
Best advice so far, block the update and don't bang your head trying to figure it out. :)
I would bet...Not as many laptops have XMP capabilities. Most manu's really lock down their bios/uefi. MSI, fortunately, does NOT. I have XMP capability, but if I can get straight JEDEC at the highest rated speed, why bother? :)
Well, hell. I've been an IT guy since 1987. Things that just come naturally to me I keep forgetting that the average person who uses a computer just isn't going to know.
You're absolutely right.
Just letting folks know.
Driver signing and driver enforcement has changed with Win 11.
The cool app ZADIG used to install WINUSB drivers for some oddball stuff no longer works.
Had a chat with the developer and he's NOT sure there's a workaround or fix.
You could pay a bit more and get jedec compliant and not have to deal with XMP. My 64GB is jedec at 1.2V/3200. But there's a ton of folks who won't know this or know how to enable XMP.
