OK, that's not necessarily a big problem, however it's an administrator account (in fact the only account there was until I created another one for the purposes of this troubleshooting). Does this matter? Can I just create a second admin account and then remove the faulty one?

To RFS: yes you're right, those aren't the default ones. My mistake. No I am not using any third-party software, at least as far as I know (but I'm pretty sure I'm not). To OAT: thank you for your help. So, I created another user as you suggested, and the problem does not happen with that user...

Thanks for the response. Sorry that was my mistake. I was actually on 22631.4317, and just now updated to 22631.4391. And the problem is still there. I'm grateful for any help.

Hello I'm on Windows Pro 11, version 23H2 (OS build 22631.3235). Any change I make to the pinned items on the start menu will not stay after a reboot. If I remove one (or more) of the 7 default ones (see pic), they just come back after reboot. And anything that I add gets removed after reboot...

To tell the truth, I did it in various stages whilst doing other stuff , and I wasn't as methodical as I would have liked, so unfortunately I'm not really sure (which is kinda dum, I know). Thank you very much anyway. You helped me sort it out.

Thank you Glasskuter, using the clean boot method, I got things back to how there were, and from there, back to how I want them.

Thanks for getting back. As a matter of fact, yes I did, as part of my initial troubleshooting process, but this was AFTER the problem had appeared. However just to be sure, I uninstalled the update. The problem is still there.
