  1. SAMSUNG external SSD drive T7 2 TB Blue (MU-PC2T0H/WW) USB 3.2 Gen2

I just double checked my T5. I formatted it NTFS ages ago and it works fine. I also turned off security and it is recognized when I boot from my Macrium usb rescue disk so I can recover the image I created previously without worrying about the password. I guess it would be the same if you use...
  2. SAMSUNG external SSD drive T7 2 TB Blue (MU-PC2T0H/WW) USB 3.2 Gen2

I have the same question. I have a Samsung T5 which is a great drive. I use Macrium for backups. However, if I boot from my Macrium rescue usb then how do I decrypt the T5 to restore the image ? At the moment I use the T5 for file backup and have another drive formatted NTFS for system images. I...
  3. Is Anyone Else Noticing This?

Ditto. However, I sometimes sit at the kitchen table when playing Bridge online ;-)
  4. Looking for Video Downloading software

I used 4K Video Download which worked well for some youtube videos to take on holiday. I haven't tested it elsewhere.
  5. Final things to do prior to first Macrium Image

I have a similar arrangement to yourself. I created a small partition (1Gb) on Disk 0 and installed Macrium recovery in that partition. Now when I boot my laptop I can select Windows or boot to the Macrium recovery environment. No usb to worry about.

Great stuff. Now you can relax and have a very Happy New Year 👍👍👍

As you suggest, I would also try with partitions 2,3 and 4. I'm not sure that the 2 recovery partitions add much. Others may have other advice. If it gives you some re-assurance, my laptop is running fine with just the EFI system and Windows partitions:
  8. Solved C drive cloned to a larger NVMe SSD, but recovery was not cloned, is this a problem?

Item 2) Make individual images (not clone) of the Windows and EFI System partitions on your existing SSD using Macrium. Save them on a separate or external disk. Item 7) With Macrium you need to use it to create a bootable recovery usb to restore your system from the image you made. I used the...
  9. Solved C drive cloned to a larger NVMe SSD, but recovery was not cloned, is this a problem?

I'm using free version and it seems to include cloning. That said, I haven't tested it.

This might help although I haven't watched it all:
  11. Solved C drive cloned to a larger NVMe SSD, but recovery was not cloned, is this a problem?

I share your frustration. As a "silver surfer" it has taken me many years to come to terms with Windows - but stick at it. Let me expand: 1. Put the old SSD back in the machine, boot and make sure all is working. You have done this. 2. Using your backup software of choice, (you are going to...
  12. Solved C drive cloned to a larger NVMe SSD, but recovery was not cloned, is this a problem?

At this stage I would be inclined to try as follows: 1. Put the old SSD back in the machine, boot and make sure all is working. 2. Using your backup software of choice, make separate images of both Windows and system partitions. 3. Download W11 image and make bootable usb. 4. Re-install new SSD...

  14. Solved Given these resources, what would your backup strategy be?

Thankyou. I keep my important personal files in a Veracrypt container which I am currently uploading to the Cloud - just in case ! Update: It is taking forever !
  15. Solved Given these resources, what would your backup strategy be?

I have an external drive at home. I have another external drive at my son's. I have two partitions on my laptop: C: Windows and D: Data. I use Ghost to image my C: drive to both external drives. I use Robocopy to backup my data to both external drives. The way I figure it is that all 3 hard...
