Latest in this sorry saga: having done an in-place repair install of Windows and reset Updates and Security Policy, I found that the three profiles that are not me (wife, daughter, daughter) had mysteriously disappeared. Right, I've reset Windows Update and Local Security Policy, and am currently downloading the x64 ISO from Microsoft. Once that's done, I'll disable my AV and VPN, and do an in-place repair install of Windows. I'll be back.

Hi Jacee. I've had a look. My installation of G DATA is bang up to date, there doesn't seem to be any issue there. I do appear to be receiving daily signature updates.
