Ok, I did find out something. The laptop I am using is a Lenovo Ideapad and the "PrtSc" (that's how they spell it) key also has a symbol of scissors and a dotted line circle on it. So ... in order to use the PrtSc part if it I have to hit FN + PrtSc ... otherwise hitting PrcSc without FN does...

I reinstalled Snagit and it came up with "Print Screen" as the hotkey under the capture button. I did go in and say override other key assignments and the #$@#% snipping tools till comes up.

I'll try to reinstall Snagit. When I hit PrtScrn in the hotkey area of the Capture window it says "Lwin" for some reason.. it's registering as the Left Windows Key. And still even if I get Snagit to register as PrtScrn it's still bizarre that Uninstall, Gpedit, Registry key and turning off...
