Do you mean the installation of the update kept failing or something else kept failing after the update was installed?

As we speak, my Photos app went white. I fixed it but hope August's update fixes the cause of the problem. For me, at least, it is a reoccurring problem.

OK, I just saw something that I did wrong today. When trying to use Brother's Update Tool, I choose the wrong printer to try to update. I choose MFC-J5930DW Printer (Copy1) with USB001 port. That was never connected. So, it is very possible their update tool may be fixed. Sorry about my mistake...

As can be seen in the attachment in the above post, I was using Brother's Update Tool. I remembered that the printer's screen shows "firmware update available," at times. I tried updating the firmware from there and it seems to have updated, at least I did not get any error message. I guess...

It's not solved for me. I just get a different error. The update finds my printer, I choose it, then I get this message when trying to update.

Did you have to do anything special to get the firmware installed, like exiting your anti-virus program?

Thank you. I did find it and also in searching it said to use the Brother utilities in place of auto-updates. That has been tried and it too, failed.

I will look for setting up auto-updates with my Ethernet connection but Brother's support never even mentioned it. I'll do a WEB search to see if I can find anything.
