Yep, everything runs perfectly fine even without that useless service started at boot and running in bg... have no idea what's for, all I've found is it crashes for some reason on Win11 when I use pendrives/MicroSD. No problem whatsoever without the service... and pendrives/MicroSD still work...
Yes, thanks. Already backed up the whole ASUS site (I mean the files for my PC) some time ago just to be sure they won't remove drivers one day.
If you browse into CABs from MS Update Catalog or from other sources (e.g. drivers from Station Driver site...) they have no GLCRIconSvc.exe
Already prevented it from starting since I've changed it to Manual service (was Automatic), so it won't start at boot anymore.
Everything runs perfectly fine after a reboot and this service EXE never launched. That's why of the whole thread... 😉 The drivers only seem enough.
I see no use for it...
Yeah thanks, I already searched from MS Update Catalog and ASUS Support page (originally was 4.5.3.2 installed, I manually upgraded to latest 4.5.7.0 today)...
BTW, MS Update Catalog .CABs contain just the drivers, no trace of "GLCRIconSvc.exe" service file.
Yes of course as I said there's a service launched Automatically at boot (now set to Manual by me):
If it's running though, it just crashes once I insert a USB pendrive, or a memory card MicroSD in the specific slot on this laptop. Everything still works after the GLCRIconSvc.exe crashes...
I have no "Memory technology devices", it just appears under USB devices (must be connected to internal USB hub):
DevID:

Windows 11, 23H2 (22632.3235), ASUS GL703GS laptop, i7-8750H, 32GB RAM, GTX 1070 8GB, NVMe + SSD
Today I noticed the service named Genesys Logic Service (C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\genestor.inf_amd64_312a8313e431fea0\GLCRIconSvc.exe) crashes silently (found the crashes under...
Yes maybe Windows was confused because I switched to battery for a while and then back to AC (I expected it to resume normal behaviour). Next time I'll pay more attention to this and see if happens again.
EDIT: today (2 days later) I did the same actions but wasn't able to reproduce it anymore...
It just got fixed by itself... last action I did was opening this panel and disable/enable this new (?) option for power saving while indexing (above "Find my files"):
... or maybe it got fixed because I (re)started the indexing process as I mentioned before.
Thanks for reply Brink. Windows Search on Start is enabled, as you can see also at the bottom of the pic above... Tried to disable and enable it again but the notification is always there...
I never disabled it, and it is actually up and running, but for some reason Win 11 23H2 reports in Start search is disabled (???):
I tried to delete and re-generate index, but notification didn't go away... ???
"Windows Search" service is enabled and set to delayed automatic start. I...
To reassure users (as I used this procedure myself), your Favorites, your custom settings (Performance and Settings, Sidebar etc. customizations) and everything linked to your account WON'T be changed. All you'll notice after reset will be site cookies clean-up (webmail, or Amazon etc. will ask...
Oh, well... I was afraid to reset Edge and loose all customized settings etc., but I finally decided to give it a go ( edge://settings/reset )... and it unexpectedly WORKED! Problem solved!
I also re-enabled all my add-ons and everything runs fine including Edge Settings Search box, finally...
