If I were to guess what did the trick I'd say I saw the best progress when I disabled the Scheduled Tasks that ran "when idle" ... so I guess I was the answer. But I wasn't willing to take the credit as I believed all the suggestions tossed in there to the end effect.

I will check that, since it was a "used" giveaway I just assumed it was OEM power supply. I'll look. I know I have another original A/C power supply Toshiba OEM from a previous satellite laptop. I'll also check on that and see if it matches polarity and input/output. Thanks, I'll get on this...
