  1. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

Well it hasn't gotten any better, after a forced update it won't even let me save a notepad document So I went ahead and filed a federal trade commission complaint. Meanwhile, i'll be trying out an alternate OS. Best of luck everyone!
  2. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

That's exactly why I used the enterprise version. I don't do any gaming on my pc. It's really not much more than a storage device for all the stuff i'm into like music, movies, lots of health stuff, etc.
  3. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

I'm leaning that way as well. But 11 enterprise or 11 pro?
  4. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

For instance, if I right click a file and select open with, I can select anything that's showing, no problem. But if I instead select "choose another app" it immediately does the instant ghost popup window.
  5. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

Anything is possible, but i've been building my own computers and installing various Windows OS's since the late 90's. I realize that doesn't mean something couldn't have gone wrong, but it's all files that I install. Windows photo viewer, MPC-HC, even browser links for Brave.
  6. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

As far as I know, Internet Archive OS files are certifiably correct. They give you the hash values to double check the file.
  7. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

Fresh installation. Downloaded from the internet archive. License purchased from a random site. I really went deep on turning off all telemetry, and i'm starting to think that's just not compatible with the way Windows operates. o_O I might have to start all over with Windows 11 Pro.
  8. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

I'm looking through event viewer, and there is a crazy amount of errors showing up.
  9. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

Unfortunately that's one of the few things I ran across when I was digging into this, and it did not work.
  10. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

I saved the browser shortcut for this page to my desktop, and now clicking on it doesn't even open this page. I have to open the browser, and drag the shortcut into the window.
  11. Random files not opening in fresh Windows 11 Enterprise installation.

Hi folks, been a long time since I visited here, I hope everyone is doing well and has happy holidays this year. So I have a Windows 11 enterprise, 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7171) installation and: 1 I turned off a lot of analytics in this install, all before I turned on the internet access. 2) Now...
  12. Solved Photo Viewer registry edit didn't work, and now photos don't open up.

This issue, being a new one, is something no one here could have foreseen. I've absolute confidence in this site when it comes to things like this, and when I redo this build, I'll follow the information on disconnecting OneDrive before the uninstall (after using an older install disc).
  13. Solved Photo Viewer registry edit didn't work, and now photos don't open up.

Yes, and that's exactly why I posted threads here. I've been a member here since Windows 7 days, and prior to this i'd never encountered a problem that wasn't easily repaired. But I posted a link that showed a recent change with Microsoft forcing OneDrive functionality on the end user, and it...
  14. Solved Photo Viewer registry edit didn't work, and now photos don't open up.

I assumed it was some such issue, as well. But a LOT of fixes were offered up for settings that I followed regardless of whether I thought it could work. Mainly because I understand how convoluted that troubleshooting is sometimes. I've been installing various windows versions for 20 years...
  15. Solved Photo Viewer registry edit didn't work, and now photos don't open up.

Unfortunately by the time I got to setting file download locations, I'd already spent a significant amount of time on this build. A simple fix would have been a lot better of a move vs a reinstallation. But regardless of when Microsoft innitiated OneDrive or at what level, it had never hijacked...
