Ok, safe to say this issue is RESOLVED! System has been running like a dream!
Thank you all again for your help!!
And thank you @dacrone for pointing to that thread where I found the solution to tweak those bios settings!
I haven't updated the bios yet, want to see if those two changes fixed the issue.
You never know, the next bios update could introduce another issue.
I can correlate the beginnings of the issue now with the last bios update I did.
Zero crashes or freezes today, I'm thrilled!
I won't call it DONE...
Should I still do this even though I haven't had a crash since last night and I just reinstalled Win11 again today?
(Onedrive was missing so I figured the previous install may have had some corruption from the issue)
I just reinstalled Win11 yesterday, that's why.
The pattern has been mostly freezes with no error reported.
Occasionally it would reboot and report a machine check exception: cache hierarchy error.
Thank you!
New BIOS, thanks for pointing that out.
I suspect now it was updating the bios a...
Here you are, thank you!
Note that I have a single 32gb DIMM installed at the moment, from my previous kit (definitely had no issues). I don't think the newer 128gb does either, however.
I now have more instances to confirm that it does appear when the CPU is not under load the freezes can...
Many thanks, I did see many threads online about people with this issue but hadn't seen people talk about possible solutions like on this thread.
I will check out my BIOS and see if I can make the changes discussed.
It just doesn't make sense that it's been fine for years and suddenly I might...
Update:
Windows wouldn't even boot anymore due to a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED BSOD on boot.
Really seems like whatever the problem has been, it has been corrupting data!
So I removed the four screws from the block on the CPU, then lifted it off.
Then four springs fell onto the motherboard as I was...
Repair shop? Those words do not compute =D
I would sooner get my hands on an alternate mobo and alternate CPU to test.
Isn't that what a repair shop would do anyway?
I don't think a faulty mobo or cpu can be fixed, just replaced.
But thanks!
Turned off DOCP, still freezing.
I do have some spare GPUs I could try.
Question - if it is locking up in Safe Mode is there any point to trying the DDU approach?
Because ya, it locked up in Safe Mode. =D
I totally forgot I have a 2tb SSD that was main boot drive prior to installing this 4tb...
RAM definitely is seated properly. I just reseated the GPU, still freezing.
I did notice that I was able to screw in one of the four screws holding my AIO pump over the CPU about 5 full turns. Interesting.
Still freezing.
I will try reseating the CPU completely as a last resort.. and I'm...
On second thought, restoring to that fresh Win11 install isn't going to help -- I realized as mentioned it had freezing issues until they went away on their own... then came back weeks later.
Thank you! @BamaInArk @Ghot
Yes, all the hardware is recognized by the OS. I did install the latest AMD Chipset drivers directly from AMD. I just updated them. I avoided any ASUS bloatware.
Event Viewer - I've been watching that every time it crashes. Rarely a clue, but THIS JUST IN!
I...
