This guys was responsible for my "Windows Server Setup" adventure. I used to use it to upgrade from W10 22H2 to W11 23H2 on a 6700K.
This also explains why the setup opens a dos window called "get 11 on 'unsupported' PC".
Man, it took me so long to find a single file...
Guess what? I did a hard reset by holding the power button for a few secs until the PC shuts down, then started it again, started the setup and it went further not even after 10 seconds!
Can you imagine? I've waited for hours for it to proceed and then this! 😂
30 mins ago maybe?
I currently have a lot of free time :), but not that much knowledge.
Do you know by a chance, where the previous install information is stored?
Its probably this one HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Source OS...
Of course! I do have multiple backups.
But as i mentioned earlier, the upgrade is not the problem. My goal is to find the ghost :)
At least for the sake of interest.
Btw, if i want to do the in-place upgrade, at certain point this window appears and stays like forever (waited 30+ minutes)...
The only way for me to get to the latest build is to modify the group policy to force 25H2 to appear in Windows Update.

Thanks for the tips, but the upgrade itself is not the problem. I only want to figure out what lets the damn setup think i am using old unsupported HW??? Impossible...
