  1. Insider Windows 11 Insider Canary and Dev build 26100.1 (24H2) - April 3

Thanks. This is no big deal, though. Open-Shell and T-Clock are affected, both customization utilities. T-Clock doesn't work at all with 24H2 Dev and shortcuts can no longer be dragged into the Open-Shell start menu. But there is a simple workaround for the Open-Shell problem. Creating a...
  2. Insider Windows 11 Insider Canary and Dev build 26100.1 (24H2) - April 3

I decided to switch my 11 Beta Insider Preview to Dev based on this update. Installation went smoothly, but I soon learned it severely interfered with at least 2 third party programs I depend on. Hoping this was due to bugs that will get worked out before 24H2 is officially released...

  4. VPN suggestions

Tried Proton free VPN. It showed me the usefulness of a VPN, but was too limiting. Finally cancelled that and signed up with Surfshark for 2 years of their Starter plan at only $59.75 total. I'm well satisfied with it so far.
  5. VPN suggestions

Thanks very much for the info, trevo. That would at least tell me if I want to get more involved.
  6. VPN suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions, allan, Wizewiz & antspants. NordVPN is definitely something I'd be looking at if this was more serious, but it's just for fun. I can get Surfshark for nearly $33 less for 2 years. As for Kaspersky, afraid I'm a bit wary about dealing with a Russian company.
  7. VPN suggestions

I'm thinking of trying a VPN since I want to access some European websites that I otherwise can't from the US. Is Surfshark any good? I've heard some pretty good things about it and the price is reasonable. Better options?
  8. Solved How can I get rid of ExpressVPN leftovers?

The Revo Uninstaller way would probably be best. But such stubborn files can usually be deleted from outside Windows by booting into recovery mode or accessing the command prompt with Windows install media. Since drives won't necessarily have the same identifying letters as they do inside...
  9. Any way to change background color of restart and shutdown screens yet?

Thanks, Josey Wales and NormanF. That's the bad news I unfortunately expected.
  10. Any way to change background color of restart and shutdown screens yet?

I'm sick of the dreary black screen whenever I restart and shut down Windows 11 and when updates are installing. Has anybody found a way to set screen color as we could easily do in 10? It seems Microsoft is forever taking away our choices and very rarely – if ever – giving us new ones.
  11. Solved Do You Use A Third Party Start Menu?

Started with Classic Shell when Windows 8 came along. Later switched to Open-Shell. Like the extensive customization options. No plans to ever rely on boring Windows Start Menu again.
  12. Insider KB5034209 Windows 11 Insider Beta Build 22635.3066 (23H2) - Jan. 19

Insider updates occasionally get posted as late as 2 PM PST.
  13. POLL: Would you pay for a Windows 12 subscription?

Absolutely no way! I would stick with 10/11.
  14. Windows 11 version 22H2 Feature Update available September 26, 2023

Yeah, it wouldn't be the first time Microsoft has hyped something to high heaven that turned out to be worthless or even vaporware.
  15. Thunderbird 115: CSS Customization

Too bad that doesn't work on Zoom. I recently got upgraded to 115.2 and everything is much bigger than it was. The whole window needs zooming out about 2 or 3 clicks, but that ordinary feature won't respond either by clicking on it or using Ctrl + -. Aside from everything being too big, the...
