  1. BitLocker

At a basic level you can get the keys using a command prompt. For drives other than the main C drive simply replace the C with the appropriate designation. I would assume this would work for any Windows version running BitLocker. Use the code: manage-bde -protectors -get C: Personally I print...
  2. BitLocker

It depends whether you wish to have the extra security it provides. You need to be fully aware of the implications of running BitLocker, mainly that you absolutely must back up your recovery keys in case you need them at any time. Fwiw I use BitLocker and have all drives and their partitions...
  3. help me avoid losing a lifetime of data

A reinstall will give allocate new keys. The Bitlocker management screen has the option to back up your keys to various places including MS account, USB drive etc. To anyone reading this and using Bitlocker please make sure you have recovery keys in a format you can access easily if needed.
  4. Insider Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) build 29599.1000 - May 29

I've no idea. This was a 100% clean install done a couple of days ago from the Microsoft provided ISO.
  5. Insider Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) build 29599.1000 - May 29

Thanks. Now you have Canary showing as selected (black dot) and I do not see that.
  6. Insider Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) build 29599.1000 - May 29

Quick question to all... I clean installed the previous Canary build 295951000 a couple of days ago and am not being offered this one as an update even when I repeatedly run an update check. I also notice my Insider settings are greyed out. Should they be or not?
  7. Insider Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) build 29599.1000 - May 29

You mean 29599 was to unstable/unusable. For anyone with weird issues it might be worth temporarily disabling Fast Start.
  8. Insider Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) build 29599.1000 - May 29

Same for me, not being offered this one. Fwiw I just clean installed 29595 yesterday and it has big issues for me with what seem like kernel issues when shutting down. Maybe the block on this being offered is deliberate at this time for me given all the 'hangs' I have experienced.
  9. Overwhelmed - Macrium Reflect

Same really. Its been a while since I last used it and like you, never had an issue.
  10. Overwhelmed - Macrium Reflect

Simply because at this moment I am down to the wire with full disk recovery options although all my data is safe (multiple backups of that). No other reason.
  11. Overwhelmed - Macrium Reflect

Given that even the latest 29500 branch Canary builds still have the old W7 Image Backup and Restore would anyone actually be prepared to test it and see how it fares? I would obviously caution that with saying that you should have a known good alternative in place first. I used to use it and...
  12. Insider Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) build 29595.1000 - May 22

Quick question for those on this Canary branch re Macrium 8.1 I am suddenly finding that I can not restore images from running Macrium within Windows as I have done in the past. I get an 'error '2' message. This happened a few days ago and I put it down to having altered the partition structure...
  13. Reflect backup or windows

I had used the reagentc /disable while I tried to recreate a new larger recovery partition. I have done all that now (all good) but having made such a mess of things first time round I wanted to restore back to an image I made a couple of hours before I started all that. I would like to know...
  14. Reflect backup or windows

I created the bootable drive on the day.... which was 48 hours ago. WinRE had already been moved to sys32 and there was no recovery partition (I had deleted it)
  15. Reflect backup or windows

Interesting. What I was actually doing was resizing and moving the WinRE partition and I originally made a mess of it. So I had the Windows WinRE disabled and moved to the sys32 area and no working recovery partition on the drive. Those were the conditions I created the bootable MR media under...
