With all due respect to you, ma'am, it's a passive move in that direction. I see electronics in the garbage CONSTANTLY. I see computers on the curbside getting thrown in the trucks with other trash often enough around here. I don't care what any law says, in this context, I know what I see...
Wow, getting "irked" at someone who is strictly deploring the potential increase in landfill? That's what this thread is asking, after all, that's what it's about. The OP has a legit concern and voiced it. So am I. How do you know this hasn't already happened multiple times, in multiple...
I find it highly ironic that Microsoft donates my "abundant" Bing points (maybe is 10 cents?) to the Nature Conservancy yet is potentially condemning millions of devices to the Earth via this Windows 11 thing.
I don't even use Bing, not even by accident. 😒:coffee:
I use Snipping Tool for snips and Bandicam free for whole-sceen and video captures. I vastly prefer Snipping Tool to Snip and Sketch ( too many mouse clicks for certain tasks and doesn't capture certain popup items like the System Tray or anything on the taskbar. Don't want to "tweak").
Well, I was very used to the Taskbar being able to be positioned at the top in Windows 10. This falls under the aegis of greater flexibility to customize one's desktop. I don't want to have to resort to too many third party software in order to get a better experience; I'd like Microsoft to...
Fix is still in effect--groovy.
Is it possible to force this update to the Antimalware platform? It now seems this is more a silent update to a platform component Microsoft is issuing in stages and evaluating via Telemetry. At least that's my inference as there's been no universal fix...
I got the same message while in Safe Mode, trying to type "msconfig" in both Search and Start Menu. I could only get out of Safe Mode by using the Run box. Sfc and dism were clean. Another bug-wug.
According to the askvg article posted in #20 (thanks, IronZorg), this machine is vulnerable...
OK, thanks Dru2--so it seems you're one version behind on the Engine, but notice that the Antimalware Client Version is the same and Bree's is one behind. So, maybe that updated Client version contained the fix? This is such speculation but it really is baffling, esp. how I got one version...
@Dru2 : Is your Engine version the same as mine?: 1.1.18400.4
If you look at the Feedback Hub under the filters Problems/Security and Privacy, there are a number of posts claiming this VSS issue was fixed for various uses since the last one or two days--by a Defender update, or an...
The thing is: the vss bug is still listed as a "known issue" in the list for cumulative update KB5004300. So, this is very mysterious. Here are the version numbers for Defender at this point in time. Again, not complaining since it's seemingly fixed on here. I just don't know how it got to...
Updated very smoothly. The Defender "Device Hardware Security" page is now fixed--core isolation is back and accessible. Yay! I noticed the Microsoft Teams service is enabled to run at Startup. I disabled this via Task Manager/Startup tab.

Is this the platform update in question? Not sure as there's no changelog. The date is July 9, 2021 which is almost two weeks ago. All I can say is just now I restarted and started machine via a cold boot and the Virus sample...
Today, Automatic Sample Submission was enabled at machine start. Restarted a few times, it stayed enabled.
MS telemetry at work maybe. I ain't complaining this time. (y)
Edit: There's a new version of the Platform: 1.1.18400.4. Could that have been the fix? Anyone know where a changelog...
Yes, this is already understood and I was actually commenting on Josey Wales' post with a contrasting experience.
My Feedback on FH on these two problems is already from two weeks ago. It must be a little more complex than one would assume.
