Honestly, I don't see how that is relevant to what I am trying to do. I'm sure that's my fault, but my feelings on the matter are that if I need to read a book to just enter a parameter in Task Scheduler, then Microsoft are doing something wrong.
I have repeatedly found that not having access...
Unfortunately they seem to have blocked that now. The location is missing from properties.
I eventually found the "Windows Apps" folder, which is hidden and of course they deny access to it.
Its full of Bing News folders, for some reason, and other stuff that no one actually wants. 225 folders...
Hello!
I need to trigger it from a task, which means I need to know how to "reference" it in Task Scheduler.
Microsoft seems to try to stop any attempt at doing this.
How do I find the folder of a store app?
I want to run an application but have no idea where the app is actually located on the disc.
By the way, I am not sure why Microsoft seem to want to hide this information.
Shuitdown Timer Classic.
It is available from the Microsoft store, but I also found it here...
https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/shutdown_timer_classic.html
and someplace else, discovered these command line options for it....
You can also use the command line to start the Shutdown...
Ah,
I sorted it.
One of the apps, ShutdownTimer, has command line options. I had an issue in that Microsoft does it's best to hide apps, but I eventually found the standalone version of the app (not a Microsoft App) and ran if from a Startup Task. Poof! It works. It now powers up when the PC...
Type this in to Windows Store and it comes back with a wealth of timers to automatically shutdown a PC after a set time.
The problem I have, is that I want one that automatically starts as soon as I start the PC.
It's easy enough to create a task that does the same thing, but I also need to be...
I find the best thing to do is NOT set all that.
Disable everything, except "file and printer sharing under Private Network".
Then just create a shortcut another computers like this...
\\PC_NAME
Now, on each computer, set the User folders and Public folders to NOT SHARED (They are just...
I am not sure what was wrong. I tried everything. In the end, I changed my VPN to Proton, and that doesn't have the same problem. It correctly set the VPN as Public.
I did have some issues with the TorGuard app. It's a shame, really, I have used them for many years and they offer a good...
This problem has annoyed me for some time, and to date I have not found a solution.
I have a few applications that I don't want to access the Internet, because they have a habit of causing trouble when they do.
Let talk about one - ICUE. This is a piece of software I use, but I like to control...
Hello!
I use a TorGuard VPN on one of my PC's.
This, initially, displayed as the Torguard as Public and the local Ethernet as Private in Control Panel. Indeed, on one of my PC's it still does.
But at some stage Windows decided to interfere with this and changed the Torguard to Private in Control...
I've given up. Even when I deleted the new rule and enabled the old rule (on Private and Public) the shutdown doesn't work, so this is a pointless exercise.
Yes, it's most odd. They defintely say "allow" and shouldn't even affect the WOL, but are... I can't yet explain it.
I will try enabling the original rules and see what happens. Although I only copy and pasted them, so I can't see that I did anything wrong.
