Its a dvd. Ive no idea if its s mode, but every time i put in another dvd , microsoft store pops up so maybe it is? I cant remember where i got vlc from...how can i check? This is all going over my head. I cant believe so many of my dvds wont work and why they are different to the ones that do...

I have inserted cyber disc. Select what happens. If i chose first option to run or install it comes up with app blocked for my protection. Option 2 open folder in file explorer: cms or auto run or cyberlink. I dont know what im supposed to do..

yes, my dvd drive came with cyberlink media suite 12. which i played but dont know if anything happened!

Thank you all. VLC has worked for a few of the dvds but not the others which are all commercial, unused and new. Dont really understand why but at least some of them work and the others I will try on a proper computer rather than the external dvd . dont suppose the answer is to revert to windows...

Seems its because windows media player legacy wont play dvds. But i will try them elsewhere. Thank you.

Well, it has worked with one dvd but with another it says vlc unable to open, check log for details.

If i try and install vlc it wants to make xhanges to my device....if i reject, it wont install.

Yes, ive got that sort of list but when i click on one, it says file has an extension not recognised by windows media player legacy

They are pre recorded ballet, painting tutorials and dog training! I will have a look at file explorer, i think the video came up when I looked before but no contents. I have another look.

What do you mean about the cable being good? i have plugged it into the port and it is working, but just not playing on laptop.
