Please help. I wanted to post a new question after searching for comparable posts, but I get a message saying I don't have sufficient privileges to post. What do I need to do? My last post was in December 2025.
Do you mind if I add a little of my question to this? I was researching because I was having problems with my File History. I never saw this before that I can remember, but on recent Windows update and install of 24H2 I got a message to restart my File History, but following instructions failed...
I don't care that they decided not to allow moving my taskbar to the right. That's where I want it, full stop. I do not consent to them changing that. OK, every thime they did that before I found some tweak to reset my taskbar the way I had it. Now I'm back to wasting my time trying to reverse...
I have a sort of watermark in the lower left of my screen that says Safe mode. I tried restarting and it is still there. I opened msconfig and it is not in safe mode startup. The General tab startup selection is set to Normal startup. How can I fix this? I looked at the tutorial and I just...
No thanks. I don't want anything of OneDrive at all. It took me all this time to manually recover everything OneDrive had placed in its cloud recycle bin back to my local drive. I stopped the syncing and backups, then copied all my data to another local drive. I learned that OndDrive treats the...
Having done tons of data recover over many years, I know that if you use SSDs the chances of data recovery drop dramatically. Also, if you turn on encryption, data recovery can become almost impossible. So there are a lot more things to take into account. In my case, where I have many years of...
No, sorry about being unclear, but that unliking came at my attempt to get Microsoft support to help me on this. I'm not sure how any of OneDrive works, but it did take a long time for it to suck up all my files. They did not make it into the folders OneDrive was creating, but they made it to...
OK, but yikes on what you are telling me. I saw my file folders in there. One that is full of professional files is titled AAFS, but now when I went back to try to recover them -- they're not there! There's something extremely strange going on.
OK, I restored a folder that was important to me. It was restored from the OneDrive Recycle Bin to the cloud storage. I copied the files to my desired local drive. If I now delete the ones restored to the cloud, will OndDrive mess with my newly created drive at all? How should I configure...
Thanks, I'll move ahead then.
Well, bad news, I tried selecting and restoring all, but none were restored. I'll try one at a time folders that I know are most important to me.
Ok, I'll try to figure out if Files OnDemand is for me. My question: 1) I have confidential client privileged documents and private personal data on some of my files. I don't think I want them in the cloud. I'm also sure the clients whose confidentiality privilege it is, don't want me making...
@glasskuter , thanks so much for your help on this. Microsoft Support contacted me and had me go through some steps where I could now see many of my lost files, even the ones that were on my original desktop. I don't know, this may have something to do with having waited some time for the syncs...
Thanks @Ghot and @Bree, I wanted to get a new version that allows incremental backups. Free didn't, but Home does, although right now I"m seeing a thread below by @cereberus That says he rarely uses incremental backups any more. I'll have to check that thread.
Sorry, I found newer threads and put myself on watching one. I had a version 7 of Macrium Reflect free, but am interested in getting a newer version. I see they are selling the one-time lifetime license (with one year support) at $79.99. What am I missing from the $135.00 Workstation license if...
