called a data recovery shop. was told because the drive is NVME when windows formatted the drive TRIM zeroed everything out and there is nothing that can be done. so unless somebody here knows something, guess that's game over.

tried disk drill and any recover, nothing.

i tried windows file recovery from drive D and dumping to drive C with the following command, nothing. winfr D: C: /extensive

well, i tried again, this time windows saw my image. i successfully loaded it. but now i have a much bigger problem. windows not only formatted my storage partition, it also formatted my external drive, which was my backup. everything is gone. is it possible to recover?

can another program load an image that was made by windows?

my NVME is partitioned. one half for windows, other half for storage. the image is on the storage. i can't load the image because windows is telling me the drive needs to be formatted, and it can't do that if the image is on the drive.

i figured it out. i found a reddit post that said turn off the power at the power supply. don't understand, but it worked.

still don't see it in device manager. tried uninstalling the driver, restarting, installing new driver, restarting, it still asks me if i want to upgrade from the old driver, even though i can see the new driver in control panel.

encouragement is not needed either. i don't want to waste more of your time.

when installing the driver from intel, i get a message that says are you sure you want to upgrade from version 22 to version 23. i find this strange cause even after i install version 23, it still asks me if i want to upgrade. almost as if its not recognizing that i already installed this driver.

i upgrade my parts every year dude. excuse me for not remembering to change the specs on a website. i don't need members like you to provide drivers. i know how to install drivers. as previously mentioned, i already tried the driver you linked.

BT 23.70.3 windows 22631.4169 desktop i did the windows troubleshooter asus X670E hero i tried the latest version from asus, and the previous version. i also thought about the bios, but have not checked yet. it was working, so dont understand how it would turn off in bios, but will check.
