I have had it set to This PC for more than a year. Just now I changed it to Quick Access, apply & then changed it back to This PC, apply, but it makes no difference. I have learned to live with it.
All I do now to get back to showing the Discs, Partitions & HDD's I have plugged...
In Windows 10, when I plugged in an external HDD, it would open to show folders as that is how I had set it to do.
If I then clicked on the up arrow, the "This PC" view was shown, where I could see the Discs, Partitions & HDD's I have plugged in.

That looks a bit too advanced for me.
I would have given it a bash but I now find I don't have to.
Through other Threads in the Forum, I have been able to revert back to the Windows 10 style of right-clicking. (as well as the Explorer ribbon).

Darn it. The blank text file appears and after writing in it and giving it a name, when I go to save, it does not automatically save into the folder I have opened. It wants me to choose a location that takes many more clicks than if I had just r/clicked in the folder and chosen a new text file...

That did the trick.
I mapped it to CTRL/SHIFT/T
It then takes about 3 seconds for the blank text file to appear.

I asked my question in that thread three days ago as I did not see the shortcut there.
As there were no replies, I wondered if my question was better off in a thread of its own.
Unless someone corrects me, it looks like the shortcut I am after does not exist.
