  1. Suddenly can't map drives

If I try opening file explorer and going to \\PC1\SharedFolder\ (by typing it in the address bar, since I can't see the PC1 in the Network list), it asks me for a username and password: I've tried the main username and password for PC1 (which happens to be PC1 and XXXX). That is rejected as...
  2. Suddenly can't map drives

Unfortunately, that generates the same error that the password is wrong. I can log into PC1 with this username and password, so I know it's correct.
  3. Suddenly can't map drives

OK, thanks. I had read new view was deprecated and was reliant on SMB1. I appreciate the information.
  4. Suddenly can't map drives

I agree, but is there an alternative to net view with SMB 1.0 turned off?
  5. Suddenly can't map drives

Ok, this is an odd one. Starting last Thursday, I can't map drives between two Win11 Home machines I have in my house. I'm using net use t: \\PC1\SharedFolder Password123 /user:ShareUser and I get the error: System error 86 has occurred. The specified network password is not correct. The...
  6. How to block Windows Update from installing an old Intel Iris driver

I've seen this repeatedly on W11 Home (and some Pro) devices. I install the current Iris driver (32.0.101.6913) and then do a Windows update and it installs 31.0.101.4032. If I run stress tests on the computer (I've used both Passmark BurninTest and FurMark) the computer will crash with the...
  7. Fresh install of Windows 11 from USB 24H2 - no drives found

Ok, perfect. So I just mount index:1, add the drivers, unmount with commit, then repeat the process with index 2?
  8. Fresh install of Windows 11 from USB 24H2 - no drives found

Holy smack, I knew I was missing something simple. Thank you very much!
  9. Fresh install of Windows 11 from USB 24H2 - no drives found

I'm trying to do a fresh install of W11 on a brand new Acer laptop that came with W11 with all the regular bloatware. For some reason, I can't get the USB install stick to find the hard drive. I'm used DISM to inject the Intel RST drivers, and when I check, it appears the drivers are injected...
  10. A driver cannot load on this device - message

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I've run multiple scans on the system and found nothing. My takeaway is that the AV must have deleted this driver, or Windows lost its mind. Just in case, I wiped the drive and reinstalled. Very strange, but sometimes there isn't an answer. :)
  11. A driver cannot load on this device - message

Checked that. Nothing in there. Nothing in the main AV logs either. Good idea though.
  12. A driver cannot load on this device - message

Autoruns was a good idea, but it's not there either.
  13. A driver cannot load on this device - message

I just used Agent Ransack to search for 52433296.sys in every .inf file on the drive - no matches. How is it possible that a driver can try to load, but the .sys file doesn't exist and there's no mention of it in the registry or on the hard drive? The computer has an AV running - I suppose...
  14. A driver cannot load on this device - message

I'm in the process of scanning it with Malwarebytes. dir /s /a C:\52433296.sys finds nothing. I also searched the registry for 52433296 - nothing there as well. It's bizarre. I have to assume that it's another driver that's loading this .sys file.
  15. A driver cannot load on this device - message

I have a Windows 11 computer that started showing the following message: The weird part is that I can't find a 52433296.sys file on the computer. I did an attrib 52433296.sys /s from the root in an elevated prompt, but nothing is found. Any idea how I track down what this is and properly...
