I would definitely run a disk cleanup on drive C. I would also look to see what files could be stored externally. Many people keep files on their computer that they are just keeping on there for archive purposes. If you have a mechanical HDD run a defrag. Of course, do not try to defrag an SSD.

Chrome has made a lot of changes recently to some of its default settings. I would definitely look at that as a prime suspect.
