  1. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

It's a nice little forum this - a pity we can't export you people and paste you into... almost every other forum I've ever witnessed! There's the English language inserting its way into the conversation again - expired is something done by others to "us" or "our", revoking is something we do...
  2. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

Since a wise man once said: and it's now sneaking up on mid June 2026, I've gone ahead with the revocation. Better that than an unpleasant surprise when I've forgotten all about this conversation. Once again - gents, it's been a pleasure :D Cheers, Cliff
  3. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

Scripts already run, BIOS values updated, running the Check-UEFI.bat - Verbose produces: I:\Scripts>Check-UEFI.bat -Verbose Windows PowerShell Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Install the latest PowerShell for new features and improvements! https://aka.ms/PSWindows...
  4. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

Hi, I'd tried that previously but ran up against a problem where PowerShell was telling me that scripts are forbidden. Looking again, your batch files proved immensely helpful. When updating via the BIOS I was choosing Public Keys but ending up with only the KEK populated. Using your scripts...

  6. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

Mine seems happy enough with .crt files. I'm a bit nervous. I'm not often on this end of a support issue and I now realise how stressful it can be for the one being helped! So - I choose "microsoft corporation kek 2k ca 2023.crt" from my USB drive... Should I be choosing Public Key...
  7. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

That would account for my not being able to find either file. I guess I'll try with the "microsoft corporation kek 2k ca 2023.der" and see if that blows my PC up.
  8. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

On my Alienware Aurora R7 it asks me to find a file. I'm searching my SSD for a .der or .crt now, but it's taking ages :( I suspect I need to download it from somewhere.... Like possibly "microsoft corporation kek 2k ca 2023.der" from "GitHub - microsoft/secureboot_objects: Secure boot...
  9. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

If I disable Secure Boot, the Security menu hides the Secure Boot menu so I can't make other changes. "Key Exchange Keys" does indeed throw up a new menu, which I'm less familiar with (having not seen it before just now) as attached. Cheers, Cliff
  10. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

So far as I can see, if I leave the "Secure Boot Mode" setting in the "Security" menu set to "Custom", Windows Security is happy. If I change it back to "Standard" then Windows Security becomes unhappy again - so it looks like "Standard" resets the keys back to factory settings? Do we think it's...
  11. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

Thanks for that idea - I turned my Aurora R7 on today and found that the Security settings I couldn't find last night are back. <shrug> So, anyway, if I select the "Security" menu and scroll down I can see a "Secure Boot" item that separate from the one in the "Boot" menu. You can't select...
  12. Solved Updating Secure Boot on Alienware Aurora R7

Two other menus may be of interest in addition to the "Boot" menu. These are "Advanced" (which doesn't seem to have anything useful) and, on my Aurora R7 at least, "Security" which up until half an hour ago seemed to have a subset of the Key management settings. I have, however, seemingly lost...
