Personalization Add or Remove Rotate Left and Rotate Right Context Menu in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the Rotate left and Rotate right context menu for image files for your account or all users in Windows 11.

Windows includes a built-in feature allowing you to quickly rotate an image file to the left and right, and automatically save the rotation change.

You can rotate left to turn the selected image 90 degrees to the left.

You can rotate right to turn the selected image 90 degrees to the right.

Option One

Add or Remove Rotate Left and Rotate Right Context Menu for Current User in Settings


This option is only available starting with Windows 11 build 26340.9212 (Experimental 26H2) for Insiders.

This option only affects the modern context menu.


1 Open Settings (Win+I).

2 Click/tap on Personalization in the left pane, and click/tap on Context menu. (see screenshot below)

3 Under File actions, turn On (add) or Off (remove - default) Rotate image for what you want. (see screenshot below)

4 You can now close Settings if you like.




Option Two

Add or Remove Rotate Left and Rotate Right Context Menu for Current User using REG file


This option is only available starting with Windows 11 build 26340.9212 (Experimental 26H2) for Insiders.

This option only affects the modern context menu.


1 Do step 2 (add) or step 3 (remove) below for what you want.


 2. Add Rotate Left and Rotate Right Context Menu for Current User

A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the REG file below, and go to step 4 below.​

 3. Remove Rotate Left and Rotate Right Context Menu for Current User

This is the default setting.


A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the REG file below, and go to step 4 below.​

4 Save the .reg file to your desktop.

5 If you have Smart App Control turned on, you will need to unblock the downloaded REG file.

6 Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

7 When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

8 You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.




Option Three

Add or Remove Rotate Left and Rotate Right Context Menu for All Users using REG file


You must be signed in as an administrator to use this option.

This option will affect both the modern and classic context menus.


1 Do step 2 (add) or step 3 (remove) below for what you would like to do.

2 Add "Rotate left" and "Rotate right" to Context Menu for All Users

This is the default setting.


A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.​
