1920x1200 resolution not available

I tried to connect an HP ZR24w screen to the VGA on my PC and the highest resolution that my Win11 Build (22000.527) will offer is 1920x1080p which means that circles are no round

. This monitor is connected to the motherboard VGA which is Intel 630 and I am certain that this used to work at the correct resolution. before the latest update.

I need the VGA to work on this monitor because I want that to be the default screen for BIOS changes mainly due to the Display port screens (using nVidia card) are not easily visible when the PC is booted.

Any idea how to enable 1920x1200 in Win11?

1920 x 1200 is a 16:10 ratio.
My monitor is 2560 x 1600, which is also a 16:10 ratio.

My monitor, on Windows 11, can run 16:10, with no special settings... so it's not Windows 11 that is causing the problem.
It may be the display driver, that is the cause.

My problem is that the highest resolution that Windows offers is 1920x1080p for VGA.

If I connect via Display Port then it correctly identifies as a HPZR24w monitor and I am certain that it used to previously - might restore a previous Windows image if a resolution isn't forthcoming, but I am sure it is Win setting somewhere.

Is the VGA port just using the Microsoft Basic drivers?

If it is, you might try installing the Intel drivers for your integrated graphics.

I have the latest Intel drivers and graphic utility as installed by IDSA but still 1920x1200 is nto available

Weird, as I am 99.(% certain that the screen aspect was absolutely correct last week

What driver does Device Manager show? I ask because it does sound like it's running on the basic driver.

I am using the latest Intel Driver (30.0.101.1340) and I have just managed to resolve the issue as I found an old monitor profile for Windows 8 and after installing that Win11 immediately saw the monitor and set the resolution correctly.

Good. I thought of suggesting that, but HP's support didn't offer a monitor driver. (Insert foul language here.)

My graphics have been all reset to 1920 x 1080 with the latest Nvidia crock of poo. All my top end games have also been reset and I cant get them past 1020 x 1080. I ttied reinstalling the drivers direct from Nvidia to no avail. I told my wife to open the winodw before I throw the who damn rig out.

I'm running an older driver... 456.71 and it offers me the 16:10 resolutions like... 1920 x 1200
The native resolution for this monitor is 2560 x 1600.

For that matter, it will also let me do a resolution like 1920 x 1080.

In Nvidia control panel resolutions settings... I have two sections.
The section labeled PC, has only the 16:10 resolutions. There's another section called HD or something
that has the 16:9 resolutions. I need to scroll to see the 16:9 resolutions.

But I think, like @Winuser said, it's the monitor driver that makes the difference. Not the Nvidia driver.

This is what it says in the manual...

It's also possible, the monitor just won't support it.
The troubleshooting guide referred me to this "Signal Mode Selection" under specifications.

I just looked in the manual for MY monitor (DELL U3011), and it doesn't show 1920 x 1080 as supported.
BUT... Nvidia Control Panel, does show it as an option. So maybe it IS the driver?

I have had Fallout 4 on 2560 x 1440. I set it months ago and left it. my monitor was mz 144 but nvidia reset it to 60. I changed it back.

Its not 'new' nor is it 'old'. Its off Steam. I took it out competely and made sure all relevant folders were black holed. Rebooted and reinstalled from Steam. After about 45 or so minutes it began installing and went in but with 'failures' - so took it all out again. Repeated above and re installed, this time it went in perfectly and whatever was wrong reinstalled with a full screen. I imagine steam have included that patch in the download as it worked.

These are the resolutions that I had until today:

2160p: 3840×2160
1440p: 2560×1440
1080p: 1920×1080
720p: 1280×720
480p: 854×480
360p: 640×360
240p: 426×240

Ok... something must have changed then.
Can you think of anything that may have changed?
Like, did you change monitor cable type? Maybe HDMI instead of DP?
I'm just guessing.

I also saw this on STEAM (free). But I think this is just to make it "look" better.

The only things I can think of that might affect the available resolutions on your monitor are...
vid card driver, monitor driver, some "other" Nvidia control panel setting or cable type.
A LOT of the Nvidia CP settings have a "Restore defaults" in the top right corner.
I guess it could also be some Windows 11 display setting.
Since they make no logical sense... I leave those alone. LOL

I already have the high res pack loaded. Another game thats reverted but is still full screen is Black Mesa, also from Steam. I think I saw in a post somewhere in here tonight a list of manual resolution in windows I think but could not find it again. Can I think of anything - only Nvidia; everything was good until that so called upgrade went in. I doubt it was just coincidence. I restalled the entire driver direct from Nvidia, I dunno, no answer .......... at least its working.

oh I wokeup thankfully, only to find another change over night. AGH!!! If I could I'd go back to 10, but its says no you cant. Oh yeah, nearly forgot, the screen today returned to full screen it had a border to the screen yesterday, now, on boot up this morning Darkstar 1, Fallout 4 and Black Mesa went back to full screen, but still on monitor default size. Have the Chinese pushed a scramble button on their electronics or something????

I have reset my monitor just in case, ut res stays the same. I still cant change to higher res which I had before 11
