OS
Windows 11
Hi,
I just did a fresh install of Windows 11 22H2 (Windows Professional). I was previously running Windows 11 21H2.

Previously I did the registry modification to restore the classic taskbar.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell\Update\Packages

create dword 32 bit value of UndockingDisabled , and set the value to 1.

It worked on 21H2, but on the new 22H2, it also works, but File Explorer no longer runs. It looks like it tries to load, but the screen returns to where you were without Explorer.

I DO see Windows Explorer running in Task Manager but it does not appear on my desktop.

Has anyone had success restoring the classic Taskbar on 22H2 and still have File Explorer work properly?

Thanks!

I'm in the exact same boat!
Installed the update on Friday and thought it'd just be a simple case of using the same registry key, tried it to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

Well, if you want a classic touch to W11, I suggest you take a look at: Open-Shell
You may find it helpful. Good luck.

A known windows expert confirmed this and suggested explorerpatcher. I tried it and it worked perfect. In the menu there are many settings.

Just get Start11 from Stardock. I know you have to pay for it but it's worth it. It stops all the MS crap with the taskbar and allows you to select and customise the Start menu as well. Side bonus if so inclined, at the tick of a box you can put seconds back on the clock in the Notification area. It also runs its own search box which stops it phoning MS with your every move.
