365 Classic Outlook downloading one or more days mail every day

I have two installs os classic outlook both set up as far as I can tell the same. Some months ago on my Dell laptop all the mail for the last day was redown loaded for both kept and deleted mail. It stoped for a time after I went through the settings on both installs though I have no idea why as nothing was changed. Then today two days mail was down loaded. Any ideas of why very welcome. Sorry for spellings I am dyslexic

1) Do I understand correctly - Without you doing anything, on two occasions Outlook brought back old data that you had previously removed from your Inbox and Deleted Items folders?

2) Did both events occur on the same computer?

3) What is the domain (the part after the "@") of the email account that was involved? Do NOT reply with your full email address.

4) Please see this Microsoft Support article and reply with what platform (Windows, Mac) and exactly which version of Outlook you are using.

Hornblower409 thanks for reply. My description of the problem is misleading sorry.

1/ Its been happening for some months not just twice. Some days like today no duplicates were downloaded, yesterday (unusually) mail for Thursday and Friday as well as Saturdays was downloaded, usually it’s just the former day.
2/ It’s the same, laptop, that has the problem.

You may have a corrupt .PST file. Firstly back up your PST file Visit C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16 and run SCANPST and run a repair.

If you would please, let's go over a single "incident" in detail.

So the PC is just sitting there.
1) Is your Outlook running all the time?

You go into Outlook and you see:
2) Old mail that you moved/deleted from your Inbox, is back again.
3) Existing mail in your Inbox from yesterday is now duplicated?
3A) All mail from yesterday? Or only those still in your Inbox? i.e. If you deleted something yesterday, does it come back?
3B) Are the duplicates Unread? Even if the original had been Read?

Outlook isn't left running all the time just when I first use the laptop and occasionally over the day. I run download and that id When duplicates are downloaded. It's existing and deleted as the unread line is along side them all. They do not apeare to be duplicated where undeleted but read but the unread mark apeares on all new days and former days when they are doe

Thanks I will run it again but I do so every few weeks befor racing up Outlook so that may not sort it but will see if it makes any changes 9

If ScanPST doesn't provide a fix, some other things to try:

1) Office Repair
Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support

2) idNet says they provide "Roundcube Webmail".
IDNet: Email Services

If you have access to your email on their server using a web client - Check your mail on the server and compare it to what Outlook has, before and after your do a Send/Receive. Could confirm that this is a sync problem.

Thanks both of you, 2nd day been OK. Used SCANPST and will see if it returns before doing a repair install.
