I've been using Tutamail for weeks now and find it to be pretty good and a lot better than the self-destruct-in-7-days and "can't send email" ones out there.
You can send not just receive and have two-way conversations and you can receive pictures too.
Free, and no ads.

yep - I just use gmail. Nothing gets deleted if you set up server correctly. Fast aa well - no annoying wait 15+ mins for push notifications.

Gmail is by far the largest email client and covers 25% of the world population. Any conspiracy theorist who believes I have sold my soul to google make me laugh as I am just one person in 2+ billion.

Sure there are many more feature rich email clients around but I always think using lesser known systems is risky as one is never sure what degree of redundancy is built into their servers.

One thing for sure is the big boys MS, Google and Apple have very robust built in redundancies in all their servers including cloud storage. So I (like most people I suspect) am prepared to sacrifice slickness for robustness.

I have.. they are known for Privacy email as Proton is..
They are also listed as one of the EU-alternatives to US Gmail/yahoo etc.
So Tuta Mail is totally legit.. based in Germany.

Yeah..., I checked out some reviews..., I just can't bring myself around to test any more mail clients! I'm happy with eM Client!

I have not tested it either as i like you dont feel the need to test just for the testings sake :-)

I don't know about the Desktop version, but, the Android version has sh*tty reviews..., then again, mail clients on Android almost always suck!

I used LineageOS as degoogle Android for 2½ months while i was waiting for my delayed dumb-phone.. so i have zero experience with apps on Android as i only used that phone for a few SMS and taking/making phone calls. 😇
So i will trust you blindly on your take "mail clients on Android almost always suck!" ;-)

I am *not* suggesting it as a replacement for an existing email provider or client, but a good choice for those cases where you want a *disposable* email.;-)

I've been using Protonmail for the last 6 years. It's simply the best email solution for me personally that I have ever used. Yes I subscribe, but it only costs me around GBP£63 or US$75 every two years. Zero spam, just a good, privacy focused email provider that isn't based in the US.

I did once upon a time use Gmail and Outlook Mail, but I got sick to death of the targeted ads and endless spam.

Yahoo Mail has an option to create disposable email addresses that can be used to send and receive mail. For the subscription Yahoo Mail Plus you can create up to 500 disposable addresses, for the free Yahoo Mail this is limited to 3. It used to be 500 for the free Yahoo Mail too, and those of us with a free Yahoo Mail who had used disposable addresses before the change still have 500.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Experimental 263xx and 29xxx builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, 1920x1080 touchscreen, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine. As its new home has an existing digital licence for Pro I've been able to upgrade the migrated OS from Home to Pro.
