Hi Eleveners; I am new to this forum so if this is posted in the wrong section I hope that a kind moderator will move it

My topic has been discussed here bere, "Accent Color is Broken 22H2" but answers and work-arounds don't work for me. I did a clean install a week ago and, with poor eyesight, I am finding that when I have several Expler windows open, thisngs are very confusing for me. N.B. I am using dark mode and all the screen shots below reflect that

It seems to me that Win11 is confused about accent colous in title bars:

1. Explorer (Normal and opened as Administrator)

5. Command

CMDasAdmin.png6 Comma6. Command 6. Commandopened as Administratornd opened as

Firefox.png
7. Firefox

Are these how theyb shouldf be after a clean install?

Now, please can someone tell me how yo open explorer with a coloured title bar. I have tried Explorer Patcher but it did not change anything. I downloaded
WinPaletter but found the cramped GU confusing and did not know what to do with it. Is there a registry hack, if so I would be happy to try it

TIA

Martin

Windows is generally a mix and match of new ideas and legacy code, which results in these inconsistencies.

With Tabs disabled in File Explorer, the coloured Titlebar should be there.
Anyway, that's how it is in my system (Win11 22H2 22621.2134).
For that I used the Vivetool GUI method, as described here:
I disabled id's 37634385 (Tabs) and 36354489 (SV2Navpane).

That's without Explorer Patcher or StartAllBack (which I don't use anymore).
In those programs you can select the old File Explorer User Interface with the Ribbon.
Then the Tabs are gone as well and the coloured Titlebar is back too.

In the version 23H2 (about to come soon) everything in File Explorer will change again, so it's not sure if this Vivetool patch will still function then!

You can not natively change the color of the title bar in file explorer in 11.

I suppose you mean StartAllBack?

I used that for some time (even had a double licence on it, which is not expensive), but had problems every time Windows had an update. Less than with Explorer Patcher, but still many problems, which I did not like. Then I went using a different app for changing the taskbar (see my computer specs), but that does not make any changes in the File Explorer.

Anyway, good to hear your problem is solved. Can you please mark this topic as solved?

I tried it all since last October - a year now. I ended up finding a background I like online and saved it to my photos. I choose that background photo in the windows personalization settings and also choose a similar accent color. The title bar will be a color from the background and lighter than the start menu and taskbar. It won't work if I use a windows built i theme or choose a solid background picture in settings.

You can not natively change the color of the title bar in file explorer in 11.
But you can select to use your own saved background picture and chose a similar accent color. The title bar will be a color from the chosen background. Does not work if you use a windows theme, custom and existing theme or solid color within the Windows settings.
