Photos_banner.png

This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the "Photos" and "Edit with Photos" context menu for your account or all users in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The Microsoft Photos app included in Windows is a rich media experience that empowers you to do more with your photos and videos. View, organize, and share photos from your PC, OneDrive, iCloud Photos and other devices all from one gallery.

Starting with the Microsoft Photos app version 2024.11080.30001.0, you can now quickly edit an image in File Explorer or on the desktop, by right-clicking on the image and select Edit with Photos. This will open the Photo Editor where you can crop, rotate, or mark up the image, as well as applying adjustments and AI-powered edits.

The Edit with Photos context menu item in Windows 11 has been replaced by a Photos context menu that expands open with the Edit with Photos, Erase Object with Photos, Create with Designer, Visual Search with Bing options to select from.

If you don't want this new Photos item in the context menu, it can be removed.

Fantastic, this is very helpful. I did not appreciate the recent Photos App update changing things around and putting "Edit" at the very top of my right-click context menu. Now "Open" is back at the top again where it should be!

I could not find this tutorial on the tenforums website even though it works for Windows 10. Perhaps add it there too?
