2020-21 versions of Windows 10 are now on more than 88% of Windows 10 PCs surveyed.

Note: we don't have the data for the initial rollout of the first update to Windows 10 (1511, also known as Threshold 2). So it's a straight line from 0 to the first data point we have on August 22nd, 2016.

By my calculations as many as 0.5B PCs may still be running Windows 7. That's a LOT. The actual number is probably more like 330M, but that's still a LOT, too. Old OSes never die, they just fade into increasing obscurity...

Yes, the surveys give a variety of pictures and those pictures can easily be skewed by both the sampling method used and the focus given by those reporting the results.

If the number of Windows Insiders really stands at 1% of all users, who are testing for the 'next' versions of Windows 10 & Windows 11, then is it really surprising that 90% of that 1% is now testing for Windows 11? In contrast, is it not more concerning that 3.8% are still using a version of Windows 10 that was released in 2018 or earlier; and that those users have presumably seen no convincing need to 'upgrade' to a later feature update?

As always there is the old adage that there are three kinds of lies : LIES, DAMNED LIES and STATISTICS!

Yes, statistics can be used in a variety of ways, some of which skew the ‘truth’ a bit!
