LENOVO_MT_10ST_BU_Think_FM_ThinkCentre M720s Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8500 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3000 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s) BIOS Version/Date LENOVO M1UKT77A, 4/10/2024 SMBIOS Version 3.2
I did a clean install of Win11Pro. It is not linked to my Microsoft Account and Lenovo drivers are up to date.
The public library uses Adobe Digital Editions as the gateway to handle ebook in the epub format. On my old computer it worked. So did the Kindle PC desktop app. An app called Aquile works in Win11 but will only open generic epubs, of course, so even if ADE created the epub, it would be DRM protected and unreadable. But it is an indication that an ebook reader can work in Win11.
I've done all sorts of trouble shooting steps but a clean install and successful authorization of ADE 4.5 (or any of the older versions of the reader) makes no difference. The program will start or open when I download a book, but the book is not added and no epub version is created from the downloaded *.ascm file triggers the app. ADE software is no longer supported by Adobe and their support community have been unable to help.
Thwarted by Adobe, I thought I would just use the Kindle app however when I sync the Kindle app with Amazon, though the book shows up when I click on it does not open. There is an error message and the steps to correct the problem can't be carried out as the book cannot be deleted even after deleting it on Amazon.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled and even stripped the registry of all things Adobe before rebooting and reinstalling. Same results.
If there is any information via msinfo32 that I can provide that might help in troubleshooting I have the summary and could provide more details from specific areas if there are any you suspect of causing the problem.
Fingers crossed that someone can help and perhaps notify the folks a Microsoft of this problem. Thank you.
