Advice re modern TVs

I'd like to find a site where I can get reliable advice on choosing a new TV. The TV scene has changed so much over the last 12-18 months but getting independent advice of the quality to be found here on W11 ain't proving so easy. Any help?

I have always been a fan of Consumer Reports. Some information is free, but you have to subscribe to get "the full meal deal." They have saved me thousands of $$$ over the years and a lot of frustration. They take no advertising money whatsoever. Their reliability reports are based on real people with personal experience of the products that they purchased. Each year, subscribers are asked to fill out a lengthy questionnaire about various products that they own.

I don't make major purchases without consulting their reviews.

Hi @garioch7. That site should be really useful after I've resolved a few questions I have about using OLED/QNED TVs after only ever having used LCD TVs in the past.

To clarify my question a little my wife mainly watches live terrestrial TV, which is broadcast as HD, not HDR or 4K and I don't see this changing much. While you cannot but be impressed by the latest 4K TVs, is there much point in buying one in this situation? You would be relying on the upscaling capability of whichever TV you choose, and I suspect that even the very best of them won't begin to match the stunning performance of UHD TVs you see in the TV stores. Also, can you just connect to an aerial lead and select that as input source without having to go via catchup such as BBC iPlayer to watch live TV over the net? I don't want to layout over £1000 just to then get criticised over it being such a fart to use.
