After opening a Gmail on iPhone it wont download to Outlook 2021 ?

If I open a Gmail on my iPhone running 16.1 beta and then return to my W11 22h2 laptop and open Outlook 2021 the email I saw on my iPhone doesn't download into Outlook. I've checked everything I can think of and still cant figure it out. Appreciate all thoughts.

Two things come to mind, one is about syncing the phone to the computer [which I don't do] and the other is a setting in the mail app on the phone is deleting messages from the server after getting them on the phone and before syncing with the computer. That deleting after download 'feature' has been around with the Outlook installed E-Mail Client and others for awhile, part of why I only use Webmail, mostly a program on my Domain page, my ISPs Webmail plus Hotmail & Outlook.com [both now outlook.live.com].

I went searching for that setting on the iPhone and came up empty. I have an iCloud and a Gmail account and the default installation is for both to be IMAP. With iCloud you have no choice. I presume they both report back to the server so if my thinking is correct I should not delete an email on my phone if I want it on my laptop ?

When using imap, that's correct. When you read an email message using IMAP, you aren't actually downloading or storing it on your computer; instead, you're reading it from the email service. When it is deleted from any device, it is deleted from the server.

Thanks. Do I can read it and close it then download it in Outlook.
