Ok, so after upgrading to 24H2, in Disk Clean I removed successfully previous windows installation, but I cannot remove Windows update cleanup which is 8.64 GB. I tried many different solutions, entering various commands in cmd for that, or to delete from other programs, but whenever it supposedly cleans it, it still displays the same amount, and I cannot get rid of it.

Also, something that didn't happen before, when I enter in cmd this command - sfc /scannow, in 23H2 it would occasionally find corrupted files and repair them, and then it would be fine, but here in 24H2, it repairs it, and when I run scan again, it constantly says that it repaired files, and not that all is fine after that when I scan again, how to fix that? I have all the drivers, BIOS, and everything updated to the latest.

Thanks, it seems to be a glitch when updating from 26100.1742 (which didn't have that problem) to 26100.1882. Anyway, is the glitch with - sfc /scannow command related to that update? Because whenever I run it, it seems to repair the corrupted files, and then when I check again, it always displays the same, that it repaired, instead of saying that no problem was found?

It is quite possible that you are just seeing the 8GB space windows reserves for updates being included rightly or wrongly in the storage figures.

This is not really needed much these days except on pcs with limited storage and you can turn off the reserved space.

Try turning it off and see if it makes any difference.

It may also be related to sandbox - is that switched on?

This bug has been reported many times over various threads. There is no solution short of uninstalling the latest cumulative update.

Having said that, this bug seems to be minor and nobody has reported a specific issue related to this.

My guess (pure speculation) is sfc tries to delete some file as it cleans up but cannot. So everything else is probably ok except if you run sfc again, it comes up with same error due to file it cannot delete.

If after running SFC /scannow it says there are errors it can't fix, then in the same Command Prompt as Admin copy and paste or type
DISM /Online /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
After that completes again type
SFC /scannow and press Enter.

The issue with 26100.1882 is that SFC states that it has found errors and fixed them. If SFC is run again, the same message is displayed.

The RestoreHealth operation doesn't alter that.

Got it working well on my ASRock A320M/ac + Ryzen 7 3700X build in the other room. I believe that you shouldn't install the preview update.

My gut tells me that I will regret installing the '1882 update.

I'm happy with '1742. I guess I will check for more updates on October 8th.

Yes, there’s nothing wrong with 24H2 in my opinion, there is a lot wrong with the preview 1882 update.
