An Image file has turned white?

Hi,

I've been working on an After Effects Project and for some reason one of the images used in the project has turned white. I have no technical explanation for this. All the other images in the folder are still there and displaying as normal. Just this one image has turned white. Both the thumbnail, and the actual image when I click on it. Even inside the project files of after effects.

I had the project open yesterday morning before going to the shop and it was completely fine. I have heaps of backups but I'm just wondering what could have caused it.

Cheers in advance.

Don't have experience with the program and this may not apply but the only time I've seen similar was when the image had the file extension changed, lost the File Association with a program and didn't know how to display it.

Maybe accidently saved a new empty file? How big is the file size?

File extension is still as normal. AE doesn't change source files, also don't have any projects with a white solid layer.
File is only 401kb, 404kb on disk.

Hi,

I've been working on an After Effects Project and for some reason one of the images used in the project has turned white.

What happens if you drag that image from the project panel to a new comp, is it still white? (Drag it to the "Create a new Composition"-icon in the project panel.)

Possible to upload/share the file?

Its the same when re-inserted into the seq. I have a different version of that comp which uses the same image but from a different folder and that's fine, but I just looked at the file properties of the white image and it says the image was modified. Which I haven't done. It's kind of like the raw image has been opened and edited in photoshop which I haven't even opened it in photoshop until today to make a thumbnail.

Use that file in the other folder and put all files outside OneDrive.

OneDrive is good for storing files but can be a disaster if used as a scratch drive with any app, After Effects, etc, included. I have seen people lost all work, assets and project files many times. They all had one thing in common, files stored on a cloud service. Cloud services tend to be confused if one file changes and try to restore the file from the cloud.

I'll give it a go, but I have one drive switched off as I run a hot spot as my internet and it is exceptionally slow anyway. I live in the middle of nowhere.

Got it!

The file you have problem with, how does it look if you open it in let´s say Windows Photos app?
