Hi,

I don't know if this is the correct area for this topic, if not, my apologies.

I am using Windows 11 version 21H2 and could see and access my Android Samsung S8+ phone with no problems.

However last 2 days I have been unable to see my Samsung S8+ phone since.

I have no idea why this occured. I have looked in device manager, no phone seen there.

I don't use my phone for checking emails, I use my laptop and desktop for that.

Any help / assistance in resolving this hiccup would be welcome.

Thanks

After you connect the phone to PC using a USB cable. Swipe down on the phone screen to check your notifications. There should be one for USB. What options are you getting? There should be one for file transfer. Note phone screen must be unlocked to see files on PC.

I have also used the MyPhoneExplorer app. Important, you need to install it on your PC and your phone.

Run MyPhoneExplorer on PC
Select File > Connect
Select Connect via:.WiFi, Bluetooth, or USB cable
If you select WiFi you will shown a QR code

Run MyPhoneExplorer on Phone
Scan QR code on PC screen
Close app

Back to MyPhoneExplorer on PC
You can do a number of things including downloading photo
Select Files option and browse to DCIM folder

MisterEd,
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately on the Samsung S8+ when I swipe down the phone, there is no USB icon.

All I see is Wi-Fi, sound, Bluetooth, Autorotate, Torch, Flight mode, Power mode, Mobile data, Wi-fi calling, QR scanner, Blue light filter, Mobile hotspot, Secure folder, Location, NFC, Do not disturb, Always on display, Smart view, Phone visibility, Dolby atmos, Sync, Edge lighting. Night mode and Navigation bar. Some of those icons are blue. others greyed out.

I'll download MyPhoneExplorer App and see how I go.

When I had problems connecting with USB on my old Samsung S7 phone I found that many times restarting the phone fixed it. In any case the phone's screen had to be unlocked to see the files on it. When things worked right I would see the phone in Windows File Explorer and browse the files on it.

I was talking about swiping down on the phone screen to see the notifications. I don't know what it looks like on your phone but here is what it looked like on my old Samsung S7:

I downloaded MyPhoneExplorer, installed on Android phone and Windows PC, and had messages pop up saying error cannot connect. I ended up removing the software. I went back to an earlier restore point and still had the same issue. Yes, I understood what you meant by scrolling down the screen. I don't use the mobile phone to access my email, just normal internet search. For my emails, it's always done through my laptop or desktop.

I had a Samsung xcover 5. It didnt need software.

It needed the Windows driver. When the driver booster delete it ,
the only way to find the old Windows driver was a clean install ....................

Hmm,
I believe I have an old version of Driver Booster that crops up now and again.

I just downloaded MyPhoneExplorer and first message says Allow MyPhoneExplorer client to make and manage phone calls...I denied it.

Allow client to access your phone call logs ? I denied it

Allow client to send and view SMS messages? I denied it

Waiting for connection

USB Cable not plugged in. when it is plugged in

Between of them was and my Xcover5 cause i had connect to different USB ports.
I said "Yes , delete". And ................ good bye Windows driver ..... welcome to clean install !!!!!!!!

The only way that my Xcover works with USB cable was with Windows old driver (i think its date was 2006).
No development mode , no extra software.
The strange thing is that after the Driver was deleted from DB, even Windows could not find a driver to reinstall. Only with clean install did they find it again.

Try this : plug your phone via USB to another computer without Drivers program.
If it works , you just dont have the original driver.
