Is anybody using Cloudflare 1.1.1.2 or Quad9 9.9.9.9 DNS to protect their system, if so have you noticed any difference in performance vs standard DNS?

So am I, but I'm interested in people's experiences with the malware blocking version 1.1.1.2 or 9.9.9.9

I am using 9.9.9.9 (and 149.112.112.112) for quite some time. They consistently show as either the fastest for me, or in the top 5. I have benched it multiple times over that span and it is consistent. I have not had any issues

Cloudflare is fairly weak, Quad9 is much better, but I am using NextDNS for additional filtering.
I do not think I have ever seen a wrong webpage being blocked, reports and fixes are done ASAP.
Of course the problem is, when malware is hosted on a public sharing webpages, it can get blocked.

I like blocking NRDs, because malware/phishing webpages are created and gone within days, sometimes hours.

After watching that video, I think I'll give Quad9 a try

I've been using Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 DNS servers.
Note that Cloudflare is politically correct. When they launched their parental DNS, it worked great, but it got backlashed, because it accidently blocked LGBT, so they quickly removed some filters and well, I would not use it on kid's computer, it is not very effective for blocking less known adult webpages. I would probably use cleanbrowsing instead, it also has a security only filter.

I wonder why when I try to enter Cloudflare's DNS server with DNS filtering (1.1.1.2) I cannot select an encrypted connection (Preferred DNS encryption becomes grayed out).

How is Quad9 supposed to work when it doesn't own it's own servers?
How a server is named means nothing, tbh as IBM is Quad9's biggest partner I would assume Quad9 is being run via IBM's Softlayer network.

Edit

after looking, Woodynet is the world's largest anycast DNS provider, so that's better than a company using their own limited network.
