I have a VAIO Tap 11 that has a wireless keyboard (i.e. always detached). Just installed Windows 11, everything seems to be working just fine, except it is always in tablet mode, so all the icons in file explorer for instance are always spaced out.
Other apps like Excel (<-- see my screenshot) also space out everything, making it a pain to use.
I suspect this is due to the keyboard being always detached, so the system never detects an attached keyboard. According to sites like this, it seems Windows 11 has lost a dedicated tablet mode, but by 'attaching / detaching the keyboard' you make the computer think it is in and out of the tablet mode, and apps that are sensitive to this setting will create / compress gaps between icons to adjust. It seems Windows 11 does not have any setting to explicitly enable / disable tablet mode manually anymore.
My model always has the keyboard detached, so maybe this is why the machine seems to always be in tablet mode?
So what should I do? Is there a registry setting or something like that that will permanently disable tablet mode? I hope there are experts out there who can give me a suggestion on what to do ! Thanks in advance.
