Hello-

My gmail account and other accounts have a ton of emails that I don't wish to received anymore.

Is there an app or something to unsubscribe from these unwanted emails? Doing it manually does not appear to work.

Thank you.

Just keep marking them as... Spam

It takes a while to get your Spam filter, filled enough, to start stopping the spam.
A lot of the Spam senders, use multiple addresses, so they all need to be added to your Spam filter.

But... once you get most of them added to the Spam filter, you will notice that you are now getting few if any spam emails.

There's really no way for an App to know what is or isn't Spam... for you.
That's why you need to do the work yourself. :(

Now for reputable companies, there is usually a way, in your account settings at that company's site, to "unsubscribe" from ads, news, and other things that you might consider spam.
Obviously you don't want to block the whole company, like Walmart, or Home Depot or Amazon... etc.
Because then, you won't get the emails from those companies, that you do want.
Like order confirmations, tracking info, etc.

Like for Amazon, those settings are under: Account > Communication and Content

For ElevenForum emails, you can select which ones you want or don't want to receive, in your account Preferences.

In your Gmail Inbox... just checkmark spam and click...

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
To add to this most emails from companies, organisations and the like contain tracking pixels that report back when you view the contents, not opening those emails in the first place can help reduce the number in your inbox as well, again this may take time to see a difference.
Also beware emails that are new to you from unknown/ unexpected senders, clicking 'unsubscribe' just lets the senders know you are a valid target for more spam.

I read somewhere the "unsubscribing" manually rarely works.

I know I have done it and the mail just keeps on.

Just keep marking them as... Spam
Only do that if it is spam, if it's something you signed up for an no longer want then click unsubscribe.

Marking company's emails as spam hurts their sending reputation making it much harder for their genuine emails to get through.

Sad, but true. Unless it's a legit company, that will honor your request.

Typically, it only results in more junk. Best thing I've found, is to simply not open the mail.

Wishing you the best.

I sometimes wonder if the mere fact of spam emails arriving at email clients (Outlook, Gmail, etc.) is sufficient confirmation for spammers that they have reached a valid email address, because there is no bounce.

I assume that big time spammers get paid (or somehow compensated) by how many millions of emails arrive at valid email addresses.

If using Imap - check that you are receiving ALL folders so junk / spam folder is accessible. Then update spam filter rules appropriately.

Also try this FREE port from Linux : Spamassassin . Works excellently on Linux, no reason why the port to Windows wont work too -- try it and see.

Cheers
