I have an ASUS Q504UAK with a UX560UAK motherboard. I recently refurbished my Asus with a second motherboard because I FUBARed the first when I opened up my 2-in-1 touchscreen & ruined a much need ribbon cable holder while replacing the original battery with a new one.
But sh*t happens. Anywhoo. I have the Asus Q504UAK drivers installed from Asus that allows me to use the Function (FN) + F1~F12 keys to operate the backlit keyboard, volume up/down, toggle the display on/off, etc. The BIOS is updated to the latest at v307.
The only thing I cannot do is use my FN+F9 to toggle the touchpad on/off when I use my either of my Logitech G500 series mice with dongle, or the FN+Numeric kepad Enter key to hotkey the access to Windows Calculator. I even tried ticking the box for W11 to toggle off the touchpad when an external mouse is used; the touchpad was still active.
The other issue I have is that I have a biometric fingerprint reader instilled on the touchpad. The ELAN driver that is used seems not to be able to communicate with Windows 11 Pro 23H2.
I like using the Auslogics Suite: Driver Update, BoostSpeed, Registry Editor, etc., so I know that I have updated drivers installed & that the registry is running lean. Yes. I ādo know that sometimes updated drivers are not always right for the older hardware in use. But hindsight taught me that when I was using Windows 10 Pro, all of the function keys & fingerprint reader for Windows Hello worked right as rain.
So. Is there a way I can āall of my FN keys working again?
How can you tell if one driver is better than other if both drivers look like they work? That is why I use Auslogics' Driver Updater.
On a side note is there a way when I press Windows+L to lock my computer to automatically run my screensaver instantaneously after I lock my computer? I use a small footprint utility called monitor, that when the lock screen (Win + L) is envoked the utility starts the screensaver of my choosing.
Somewhere I read that the Calculator shortcut is not working with any of the FN Keys on any make or model computer, maybe its the same for toggling the touchpad, too?
BTW, I have no problem hacking the registry if @Brink has a work-around.
Thanks, in advance...
