I'd be curious as to how obvious that option is, or whether it's like their predatory marketing "auto-renewal-by-default-on-installation" tactic, where unless the user really knows about it and takes action to turn it off separately ??

It's right on the main screen. They ask you if you want to earn cash during your computer's idle time. You can turn it on or turn it off in the settings. Most people won't realize that it's crypto mining. From what I understand, the return to the individual is low. Norton reaps most of the benefits.
