As the title says, I just want to back up the usernames, passwords and other data needed to set up an account. I use the built in Windows mail client because it fits my simple needs perfectly.
I have sixteen email accounts, and every time I install or re-install Windows, it's a major pain to set these up again, one by one.

I don't want to back up the emails themselves, which is what every web search assumes, and gives me information I don't want.

I tried Outlook and Thunderbird, but those are overkill for my needs, especially outlook.
I would much prefer to stick to Windows Mail.
Is there a solution to this?

Not easily, and not yet, but it is supposed to be coming soon. Microsoft is working on a way to restore your apps from the Store after a clean install, and I hope that means the apps' settings as well.

See this article:

From that:

Restore Apps. As we noted earlier this year, the PC market saw the biggest growth in a decade. To make it easier for customers to transition to their new PCs quickly and seamlessly, we will soon test a new feature in the Windows Insider channel that helps customers automatically restore their apps, previously installed from the Microsoft Store, to their new Windows device. This will also help developers retain their customers without having to remind customers to re-download their app.

However, it does not say anything about restoring settings, which would be pointless with just the app installs. So, take that with a grain of salt.

Looks promising. We'll see how it turns out. Thanks for the heads up.
